Privacy Policy
We collect only what we need to run private groups, store it while a group is active, and delete it when groups expire or you delete your account.
Effective: May 27, 2026
1.Who we are
"nodeApp" (the "App", "we", "our", "us") is owned and operated by Sulieman Vidal. The App is distributed through the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).
General contact: hello@nodeapp.us
Privacy requests: privacy@nodeapp.us
Support / account appeals: support@nodeapp.us
2.Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address (required) and password (stored hashed)
- Date of birth (used only to confirm you are 18 or older)
- First name, last name, and optional profile photo
- Authentication identifiers if you sign in with a connected provider (e.g. Google)
Your date of birth is not shown to other members.
Group and collaboration data
While a group is active, we store:
- Group name, HQ address/coordinates, event dates, and lifecycle settings
- Membership roles (Leader / Follower), invitations, and invite tokens (including expiration, max uses, and optional passcode hash)
- Tasks you create or are assigned, including titles, descriptions, addresses, time windows, and assignee lists
- Categories/flairs on your profile
- Messages and images posted in group chat or task-related threads
- Read/delivery status and notification activity related to your account
Location and maps
We store the group HQ address you or your group leader choose when creating a group. Task addresses may appear as text in the app. We do not collect device GPS, live member locations, automatic check-ins, or real-time user tracking. Viewing the in-app map does not require location permission on your device.
Device and app data
- Push notification token(s) (via Firebase Cloud Messaging)
- Session and app state needed to operate the service
- Basic device/app information required for notifications and reliability (e.g. platform type)
We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, AAID on Android) for ad tracking.
Platform data
When you download nodeApp from the Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms may share limited install, crash, or aggregate usage data under their own policies. We do not enable cross-app advertising tracking.
3.How we use information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account, groups, tasks, chat, invitations, and notifications
- Show the group HQ on the in-app map and related collaboration features
- Deliver real-time updates (messages, tasks, group status) via our servers and sockets
- Send push and in-app notifications you enable
- Enforce age requirements (18+) and community rules
- Review reports, detect abuse, suspend or remove accounts when needed
- Maintain security and service reliability
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or training machine-learning models.
4.Notifications and messaging
Push and in-app notifications may include invitation, message, and task activity. Message content and metadata are processed to deliver chat, read status, and notifications. You can manage supported notification preferences in the app (Profile → Notifications) and in your device OS settings.
5.Location and mapping (important)
The in-app Map tab shows the group HQ pin set at group creation.
- We do not display member live GPS on the map.
- We do not collect location while the app is in the background for tracking purposes.
- No device location permission is required to view the HQ map.
- Map display and address search may use third-party mapping/geocoding providers (e.g. Google Maps Platform).
6.User reports, moderation, and safety
If you report a group, message, or user:
- Report details are stored for moderation review (typically within 24 hours).
- Reporting a message may hide that message for you only until review is complete.
- Reporting a user or group is sent to our moderation team; enforcement may include content removal, account suspension, or removal from a group.
- We may retain report records as needed for safety, legal compliance, and abuse prevention.
7.Data retention and deletion
Group lifecycle
When a group's lifecycle ends, group content may become read-only. 24 hours after group expiry, group content (messages, tasks, images, and related group data) is permanently deleted from our systems. There is no user-facing archive or recovery for expired groups.
Manual group deletion
When a leader deletes a group, a grace period may apply during which deletion can be undone. After permanent deletion, related data is removed or no longer accessible.
Account deletion
You may delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete account. You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@nodeapp.us or hello@nodeapp.us.
When your account is deleted:
- Groups you lead are deleted (including tasks, messages, invitations, notifications, and uploaded images).
- You are removed from groups you joined; those groups continue for other members.
- Your messages, notifications, invites, task assignments, and profile photo are removed per our backend process.
- You are signed out on all devices immediately.
We do not offer a bulk data export feature in the app. You may request a copy of your account data by emailing privacy@nodeapp.us.
8.Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
Within the App
Group content is visible to members of that group according to role (Leader vs. Follower).
Service providers
We use trusted providers to operate the App, such as:
- Cloud hosting and database infrastructure
- Firebase (push notification delivery)
- Google Maps Platform (maps, places, geocoding)
- Apple App Store and Google Play (distribution)
These providers process data only as needed to deliver the service.
Legal requests
We may disclose information if required by valid legal process. Where permitted, we will challenge overbroad requests and notify affected users.
9.Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS for data in transit and encryption for data at rest. Passwords are stored using secure hashing (e.g. bcrypt). No system is perfectly secure; use a strong password and protect your device.
If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password and contact support@nodeapp.us.
10.Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access - request a copy of your account data
- Correction - update profile information in the app or by email
- Deletion - delete your account in the app or by email
- Notification control - manage push permissions in app and device settings
- Leave a group - stop participating in a group (subject to leader rules)
California (CCPA/CPRA) and EU/UK (GDPR) users may have additional rights, including portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a regulator.

11.Children's privacy
nodeApp is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, contact hello@nodeapp.us and we will delete it.
12.International users
If you use nodeApp from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this processing as described in this policy.
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
